Goa Gajah Temple is
located in Bedulu village which is about 6 km from the
town of Ubud. In addition to the cave where according to history that is often
used to meditate, there is also a site of holy water. In the cave that is not
much in these, there are 3 statues. These statues named Queen Kompiang, ARCA Trilingga and Ganesha statue. In addition to these statues, on the wall of the
cave there are several holes that could be used to meditate / meditation.
According to
the story, it was thought if we were able to hold the hands of the upper part
of the cave began entrance to the inside without interruption, then what we
want is usually achieved. For the truth of the story, all back to our
intentions and generosity of God.
At the front
of the entrance there is an Elephant Cave which contains 7 fountains and a few
fish. Water from the pond is normally used for purification for those who want
to pray / meditate at Goa Gajah. It is said that fish and water from the pool
of first fixed such that both the size of the fish and the amount of water and
fish.
On the left
of the entrance of the cave are the ruins of the temple were damaged by the
earthquake. The debris neatly next pool of holy water. The debris was allowed
to accumulate in some groups, because it could not be put together again to
form some of the temples that used to exist.
On the right
side, precisely if we go down we will find a small bridge that connects the
complex to the Goa Gajah complex Buddhist Hermitage. Along the way down we
could see the beautiful scenery. Starting from a small river clear water to the
left of the bridge, and pond on the right. In the river there are two large
stones and a mound of ruins statue that supposedly fell from the top of the cliff
because the earthquake first struck.
Across a
small bridge, you will find a shrine that supposedly was used by Buddhist
ascetics. According to an old lady who we met at that location, first there is
a statue intact. But about 10 years ago the statue was stolen irresponsible
people. Now all that remains in the Buddhist monastery complex just a small
statue cut off the head.
While the
location next to the hermitage seemed a not-too-high cliff stood firm. In some
parts of the cliff appears some form of sculpture. There are sculptures
resemble a pig on one side. While on the other hand is visible in the form of a
skull sculpture and other forms somewhat vague. Honey beauty of the sculpture
covered with moss growing thicken.
